Fostering of legal migration from Moldova and Georgia to Bulgaria

The project „Fostering of legal migration from Moldova and Georgia to Bulgaria“, № BG65AMPR001-2.001-0010, under contract 812108-44-11.06.2024, is funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027.

The main aim of the project is to contribute to the implementation, strengthening, and development of an effective common European policy in the field of migration, in full accordance with the EU law and the international obligations of the EU and Bulgaria.

This will be achieved by fostering legal migration to the EU and in particular to Bulgaria among the citizens of Moldova and Georgia; increasing their level of awareness of the full range of possibilities of labor migration; as well as creating conditions for the effective implementation of the bilateral agreements between Bulgaria and respectively Moldova and Georgia on the regulation of labor migration, favoring subsequent integration and social inclusion.

To achieve the project objectives and results, the following main activities are foreseen:

  • Researching the potential for legal migration from Moldova and Georgia to Bulgaria and determining the needs of the Bulgarian environment:
    –  Conducting a representative study among Moldovan and Georgian citizens and developing analyses to determine the profile of Moldovan and Georgian citizens with potential for legal migration to Bulgaria;
    –  Conducting a representative study among employers. NGOs and experts, labor intermediaries, media, etc. to determine the needs of the Bulgarian labor and social environments regarding the legal migration of third-country nationals to Bulgaria;
  • Development and distribution of thematic information packages:
    –  Web-based information platform in Bulgarian, English, Romanian and Georgian;
    –  Thematic information brochures (in Romanian and Georgian);
    –  Thematic infographics (in Romanian and Georgian);
    –  Informational videos (in Romanian and Georgian);
  • Informational events for increasing the awareness of Moldovan and Georgian citizens:
    –  Educational discussions;
    –  Round table: benefits and challenges of legal migration to Bulgaria and other EU countries;
    –  Information simulation tour, etc.

The project intends to reach directly at least 100 persons in Moldova and 100 persons in Georgia interested in legal migration to the EU and Bulgaria in particular (unemployed; young people; citizens of economically vulnerable areas), as well as the general public in both countries. A large number of concerned individuals will be further reached through the publicity activities and planned multiplication and sustainability measures.
