On 25 April 2023 the Joint International Conference between the PROSECUW Project and PROTECTOR (Protecting Places of Worship) Project took place in Cyprus with 150 delegates representing 15 EU countries.
The Conference brought together 5 major European Union security innovation actions – co-funded by the Internal Security Fund to counter all types of threats to places of worship and sites of religious significance, including schools, museums and monuments together – to share knowledge and expertise.
Public authorities, security agents, religious leaders, decision-makers, local communities and civil society actors gathered in Cyprus to set up a fertile ground for an open dialogue, exchange of valuable knowledge and practices, creation of local and international synergies and cooperation among them, with the ultimate goal to develop their capacity to counteract radicalisation and hate-speech, in an effort to promote inter-religious respect and diversity.
